Jeryln Schenker-Moore, 48, died in the loving embrace of her family at Newton Medical Center on Thursday, July 20 — just one week after saying her wedding vows.
Born in Livingston, Jeryln spent a brief part of her childhood in Florham Park before moving to Sussex, which was considered her home ever since, her obituary says.
She worked with her sister at Beckey’s Hair Therapy and was known for her love of traveling and taking adventures. Some of her most notable excursions include trips to Jamaica, Amsterdam, and Portugal.
Jeryln also had a passion for the outdoors and manifested this enthusiasm through gardening and camping.
Above all, she embraced her role as a dedicated mother to her children, Teddy F. Bona, Carson Moore, Gaige Moore, and Lili Mahler-Moore.
Just one week prior to passing, loved ones gathered to hear Jeryln say her wedding vows to her loving husband, James R. Moore:
In addition to her children and husband, Jeryln leaves behind her father, Jerome R. and wife Katherine Schenker, her sisters, Christine Kevett, Suzette and her husband Eric Ellefsen, Monique Rooney and Rebecca Gibbs; her brother, George and his wife, Lisa Kevett, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Meanwhile, more than $5,500 had been raised on a GoFundMe launched in April, shortly after loved ones say Jeryln’s breast cancer returned and metastasized. The campaign was still accepting donations as of Friday, August 11.
Jeryln “selflessly” continued to work at the salon while undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments as other family members faced their own struggles, the campaign says.
“You’re an amazing person that inspires everyone you come across,” one donor commented.
Jeryln’s memorial and celebration of life were set for Sunday, August 20 at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home in Newton.
Donations were also being made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice (99 Sparta Ave. Newton, NJ 07860).
“…I know you are an angel watching over all of us,” reads one of several tributes on Jeryln’s obituary.
“My heart goes out your family. It was a beautiful thing to watch you marry, the love of your life, Jim . He loves you so much and adores you. May you be at peace now, my friend.”
